簡単な自己紹介です。
中学校社会科・高校日本史の教員免許を持っています。
大学時代から、学習ボランティアや塾講師として教育に携わってきました。
現在は中学受験の塾で働いていて、講師歴は6年目になります。
大学受験の際には、部活動を引退した8月から勉強を始めて、偏差値20以上のUPを経験してるので、これからの方法に一応説得力はあるのかなと思います。
1.公民のNGな勉強方法
今回も、効率の良くない勉強方法を2つご紹介します。
公民が苦手な方は、自分の勉強を振り返ってみてください。
言葉の次元を考えない
公民の学習で、とても大切なのがこれです。
実は公民で出てくる言葉の多くには、次元があります。
どういう事か、分かりづらいと思うので例をあげます。
例えば、人権に関してです。

国家から制約を受けずに、自由に考えたり行動したりする権利を自由権といいます。
自由権はさらに、身体の自由・精神の自由・経済活動の自由に分類されます。
そこから、精神の自由であれば、表現の自由・思想良心の自由・学問の自由など、細かく分けられていきます。
図を見て分かるように、公民で出てくる用語には段階(階層)があるのです。
この次元を意識して、覚えていく必要があります。
よくある間違えとして、自由権と答えるべき問題に、「精神の自由」などと答えてしまう生徒がいます。
これは、問われている言葉の次元を間違えてしまっているのです。
少し分かりにくい説明になってしまいました。
要は、全ての言葉を同じように暗記するのではなく、
自由権→精神の自由・身体の自由・経済活動の自由→表現の自由、
など細分化されていくイメージをしっかりと掴んで勉強する必要がある、ということです。
後回しにする
一般的に、小中学校では公民を習うのは1番最後です。
その為、テスト範囲も狭く、覚える量の他の社会科科目に比べると少ないです。
しかし、公民はテストだけでなく、社会で暮らすためにも必要となる重要な教科です。
よく、公民のテストを後回しにしている生徒も居ます。
しかし、優先順位を下げたとしても後回しにするのは、オススメしません。
優先順位を下げたとしても、隙間時間でコツコツと勉強していくべきです。
公民は、それぞれの単元にが比較的はっきりと分かれている教科なので、隙間時間の勉強に向いている科目です。
これから紹介する方法も含めて、効率良く勉強していきましょう。
2.効果的な勉強方法
先ほども述べたように、公民は暗記量が少なくて済みます。
その為、効率良く学習していけば、多くの時間を費やさずに、点数UPが可能です。
図にまとめる
公民では、図を書きながら暗記することをオススメしています。
先程の、人権の図も然りです。
三権分立なども、典型的な図で表されます。
これらの図を、何も見ずに書けるようになると、実力が付いている証拠です。
公民が得意になる方法は、関係性に注目することです。
例えば、「国会と内閣の関係」「や衆議院と参議院の関係」などです。
図を書くと、その関係性が視覚的に理解できるようになります。
何度も図解しながら勉強していくと、自然と公民が得意になるでしょう。
文章で覚える
公民には決められた、言い回しがあります。
例えば、「人間らしく生きる権利」→生存権
「税金を納める人と負担する人が別の税金」→間接税などです。
これは、どんな参考書でも、試験の問題でもほぼ同じ文章で出題されると思います。
このような用語は、文章ごと覚えてしまう方が楽です。
一問一答の問題集では、問題文も何度も読み込んで、セットで覚えましょう。
また、記述問題もよく出題されますが、聞かれやすい部分は決まっています。
公民では、記述用の参考書を一通り学習すると、とても力が着くでしょう。

ニュースと関連づける
全ての教科の中で、最も現代のニュースと関連が深いのが公民です。
ニュースをチェックする癖は付けたいところです。
ただ、ニュース番組を必ず見る必要はありません。
ニュースアプリなどで良いので、今世の中で何が起きているのか、を把握しておきましょう。
政治のニュースなどは、公民で習ったことが実際に世の中で起きるので、学習内容が一気にリアリティを持っていきます。
歴史と関連づける
歴史との関連も大切にしていただきたいです。
例えば、憲法など歴史の分野でも出題されるテーマです。
現代史を勉強してみるのも、今の公民を知る上で重要な手段です。
分野を決めずに、様々な方向から勉強してみることが大切です。

公民の勉強方法をご紹介しました。
地理編、歴史編と異なる部分や共通している部分があります。
ただ、良い勉強方法には共通点も多いでの、様々な方法を試して
自分なりの最適な勉強方法を見つけて下さい。
